Do you check your safety gear before each race?
Sanctioning bodies will not allow you to use an item if it shows any damage.
Check your gear for rips, tears, grease or oil stains; any damage like this will cause the integrity of the item to be compromised and could fail.

Have you checked your helmet's SNELL® date?
Many sanctioning bodies only allow a helmet to be used for up to 10 years. The SNELL® rating is changed every 5 years, the current SNELL® date is SA2015.
Always check your helmet for damage such as scratches, cracks and chips; if there is any damage, the integrity has been compromised and could fail to protect you correctly. Use tear offs to protect the shield of the helmet from scratches.
